Transforming Cardiac Care with Coronary CTA and HeartFlow Analysis

At Wisteria Imaging Institute in Wyncote, PA we are proud to be at the forefront of advanced, non-invasive cardiac imaging. Through our partnership with HeartFlow, we’re helping patients and physicians gain deeper insights into coronary artery disease (CAD) and improving outcomes with precision-guided care.

What is Coronary CTA?

Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) is a non-invasive CT scan of the coronary arteries. It allows Physicians to:

  • Detect coronary artery disease and blockages

  • Visualize detailed heart anatomy

  • Identify high-risk plaque for better risk stratification

  • Offer a safer alternative to invasive coronary angiography

With its high sensitivity (93–97%) and negative predictive value (>95%), Coronary CTA is one of the most effective ways to rule out CAD in low-to-intermediate risk patients. It is also superior to traditional stress testing in detecting early signs of atherosclerosis.

What is HeartFlow Analysis?

HeartFlow Analysis is an FDA-approved, AI-powered technology that takes CTA images and converts them into detailed 3D coronary artery models. These models simulate blood flow, providing a physiologic view of coronary lesions. This integration—called Fractional Flow Reserve from CT (FFR-CT)—offers actionable insights for physicians, helping to:

  • Avoid unnecessary invasive procedures

  • Guide treatment decisions with functional precision

  • Improve patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness

Backed by Evidence

The SCOT-HEART trial demonstrated that using CTA led to a lower risk of death from coronary heart disease and nonfatal heart attacks compared to standard care. Patients who underwent CTA also had fewer invasive angiograms and interventions after one year.

Studies further show that HeartFlow FFR-CT:

  • Reduces unnecessary invasive procedures by ~30%

  • Accurately correlates with invasive FFR, the gold standard for ischemia

  • Improves clinical outcomes by combining anatomy and physiology in CAD evaluation

Endorsed by Guidelines

Leading organizations now recommend CTA as a first-line tool for chest pain evaluation:

  • ACC/AHA 2021 Chest Pain Guidelines: CCTA is the preferred first-line test for stable chest pain.

  • SCCT 2022 Consensus: CTA is recommended for acute chest pain triage.

Benefits for Patients and Physicians

At Wisteria Imaging, patients receive:

  • Access to advanced, guideline-endorsed heart imaging

  • Expertise from specialists trained in cutting-edge cardiac imaging

  • Convenient scheduling and fast turnaround times

  • Affordable care with a patient-first approach

For physicians, this means better diagnostic accuracy, reduced reliance on invasive testing, and enhanced treatment planning.
